TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Family Tree Community Center took time Sunday to bring families and members of the LGBT community together.
The group hosted its "Family Day," celebrating international equality. The events was held at Tom Brown Park. Some participants said it was a great way to network and have their kids meet peers in similar family structures.
"As gay parents we really need to network. It's really great for our kids to see that there are other parents that have two moms or two dads. I think it's just great to get together. It's more for support then it is for political reasons and more for making friends and play dates," said Martin Gill, the Family Tree's board member.
The Family Tree is Tallahassee's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community center and positions itself at the center of LGBT life in the Big Bend Region of North Florida.
