TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Capital City organizations got in the spirit days before the St. Patrick's holiday.

Members of the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association hosted its 1st Annual Shamrock Shoes and Spokes race.

The tandem wheelchair fun race celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the organization consisting of teams of 2 members each.

The race began at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and College Avenue, finishing at Klemen Plaza. The race is to show off everyone's abilities.

"The purpose is to show that we can all have fun together. And some of us might need to use a little bit different equipment. We might need to use assistive technology and we can all have fun together no matter what your ability level is," said Laurie Gussak, executive director of FDOA.

This was the first year of the event prizes were awarded to all participants at the finish line.
