TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Sunday, June 28, 2015, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to attend a "Unity Service for Community Safety" beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the corner of Dunn and Dean Streets in Frenchtown. The event will feature prayers, hymns and special music by the Men's Choir of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Mayor’s “Operation Safe Neighborhood” Initiative, Pastors and Ministers of Tallahassee, and the Men’s Sunday School Class of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Organizers say in the aftermath of last week's tragic church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina and the escalating crime in Tallahassee, their goal is to send a clear message that we can win this war on crime.

“The purpose of the service is to continue to strengthen neighborhoods and to stand united to fight against the escalation of gun related violence and senseless killings. We are coming together to reclaim our communities and provide renewed hope” stated Reverend R.B. Holmes, pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and event organizer.

Event organizers say following the service, the community will be treated to a complimentary fish dinner and engage in further dialogue with the pastors and ministers.
