Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - Several local organizations are partnering to provide free, developmental screenings to infants, toddlers and preschool age children in Leon and surrounding counties.
The group will be set up for vision, dental, hearing, speech, language, cognitive behavior, growth and motor skills to help with early intervention.
The event is on Friday from 8 am - 12:30 pm at Children's Medical Service on Phillips Road in Tallahassee. To make an appointment parents can call 850-487-2630, extension 0.
Experts say that a child’s growth development should be monitored by the parent and health care professionals. The event is a collaborative effort by Whole Child Leon, the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources Center, the Capital Area Chapter of the Florida Association of Infant Mental Health and Children’s Medical Services, in partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families, Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend, Early Steps, the Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services, Inc., Family Network on Disabilities, Leon County Schools, and Florida State University's Communication and Early Childhood Research and Practice Center.
