TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Junior League of Tallahassee helped local kids get prepared for back to school Sunday.

The organization hosted its 19th Annual Kids' Boutique at Kohl's on Appalachee Parkway in Tallahassee.

Participating families were given an allowance to spend on clothes. The students also received a backpack full of much needed supplies.

The event was also a way to help boost the students' self esteem start the school year off right.

"We currently have 8-9 students elementary school students signed up from Leon County and we have allocated approximately one hundred dollars per student. We feel it's part of our mission as the Junior League of Tallahassee to give back to the community particularly women and children of the community," said Elissa Saavedra, an active member of the Junior League.

The goal was to give back-to-school items to at least 100 local kids.
