TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Girl Scouts of the Florida panhandle celebrated the kickoff of its 2015 cookie program Saturday at Tallahassee Community College.

The rally encouraged girls to get involved with the Girl Scout Cookie Program, showing them the benefits of learning by earning.

Participants were taught 5 financial literacy skills, including goal setting, decision making, and money management.

The girls also explored arts and crafts and teamwork. One Girl Scout told ABC27 why they're excited about the kick off.

"I love volunteering with my friends and I love hanging out with them because this is a fun way to hang out out of school and this event is so fun because there's so much to do like taking pictures at a photo booth and hanging out with the Samoa," said Genesis Nerys.

Members of FAMU's softball team were also in attendance. "We enjoy the girls. We inspire them. We like to give them advice and help them out...make cookies and all these arts and crafts," said Amber Fullwood.

The rally unveiled this year's newest cookie....RahRah Raisin. The group also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Samoa.
