GADSDEN CO., Fla. (WTXL) -- The Florida Department of Health is helping residents start the new year on the right foot!
Get Going Gadsden is back for the fifth year, to help you shed any extra holiday pounds, and create a lifestyle change to keep you healthy all the time.
The six-month challenge increases the awareness about obesity and chronic diseases, especially as a result of unhealthy eating and limited physical activity.
Everyone who takes part gets a healthy weight journal, and are encouraged to either host or attend community education courses.
Each team sends in weekly weigh-ins and exercise hours to the Health Department. Then, officials will do the final weigh-in with the top contenders.
The award ceremony will be held in August.
Get Going Gadsden officially kicks off January 9 at 9 a.m. with weigh-ins and registration at the Florida Department of Health Gadsden County (278 LaSalle Lefall Drive).
The challenge then runs January 11 through July 11. Team signups are now open.
