TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Florida Youth Challenge Academy is hoping to help teens all across the state.
The program is hosted by the Florida National Guard, and lasts 17 and a half months.
During the first five and a half months, participants will live together in a structured learning environment. For the final 12 months, they go back home to work with a mentor and be placed in either a job, further education, or the military.
Major Caitlin Brown with the Florida National Guard says the program is completely voluntary and teens chose themselves to take part.
