TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Florida State Seminoles battled the Pittsburgh at Dick Howser Stadium Friday. The stadium was filled with fans not only cheering for the boy's baseball team, but for a special guest.

The stadium was packed with fans, both old and young, as they cheered on the Seminoles in the ACC game against Pittsburgh. It was the bottom of the 3rd inning and the 'Noles were up by 1, but spirits of both players and fans would be lifted even more when the 4th inning began.

It's been 5 months since the shooting at Florida State's Strozier Library that left the shooter dead and a student paralyzed. Friday, Ronny Ahmed took the field at Dick Howser Stadium and was presented with an honorary Seminoles baseball jersey.

Fans of the team commented on the ceremony.

Rick Ruch said the event symbolized progress. "It symbolizes the commitment to excellence the commitment to our law enforcement here and to the victims...stand behind this university. We love the victims. We always will," said Ruch.

Another fan added, "There's been some tragedies all across the nation and I'm glad ours ended the way it did even though it was very unfortunate for everybody involved," said David Hormuth.

Ahmed was joined on centerplate by officers with the Florida State Police Department and other victims of the Strozier Library Shooting where he was presented with jersey number 15. Ahmed returned to Tallahassee February 15.
