Bluebird Run Raising Awareness for Suicide Prevention

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The community is invited to run to raise awareness.

This year is the inaugural Bluebird Run/Walk for Brookie B. It's all in memory of Brook Bowers, who ended her life in 2012.

Since then, her family teamed up with the the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Tallahassee to create the Brookie B Fund was created by her family with The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Tallahassee.

It's a way to start the conversation about suicide, offer opportunities for survivors, and increase awareness and prevention.

The run will raise money that'll stay local help with those efforts. 

The Bluebird Run/Walk for Brookie B. is Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. It's at J.R. Alford Greenway (South end of Pedrick Road in Tallahassee).

BENEFIT: This event is being done in the memory of Brook Bowers. Proceeds will benefit the suicide awareness and prevention efforts of NAMI Tallahassee, an affiliate of the National Alliance for Mental Illness.
