TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Dozens of cities across the country rallied in solidarity with those in Baltimore Friday, including some local groups in the Capital City.
Members of Students for A Democratic Society and the Black Liberation Action Coordinating Committee gathered at the corners of McDonell and Railroad roads to bring attention to the struggles faced by oppressed people everywhere and to fight against police terror and racial oppression faced by minorities.
The lead organizer explains the charges on the Baltimore officers are a step in the right direction, but it's still not enough.
"To see those developments, positive developments, is a good thing. I would love to see more officers held accountable. We need to hold the whole system accountable and not just firing individual officers," said Shavaani Ehsaan.
The group also wants to bring attention to injustices in Tallahassee. They cite recent cases where officers have used excessive force and the lack of money invested in oppressed neighborhoods.
