TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott is ordering a drop in the cost of the state's lifetime hunting and fishing licenses.

But the catch is the break will only last for a brief time and it is available only for state residents 21 years old or younger.

Scott on Thursday ordered the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to lower the cost of a "lifetime sportsman's license" to $500 for young people. It currently costs $1001 for anyone 13 and older.

The fee drop is available from Nov. 24 to Dec. 31.

A Florida resident who buys the license can use it for hunting as well as both freshwater and saltwater fishing.

Scott said he was ordering the fee drop to encourage young people to spend time outdoors with their families.
