TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested after deputies
According to a court document, the Leon County Sheriff's Office was called out to a home on Baron Lane about a trespassing complaint.
When the deputy arrived, the man who had called for police, Hubert Wright, approached him and and tried to get the deputy to come inside his home to talk.
Documents say that the deputy told him that he was searching for the other man involved first and would meet Wright at his house.
While searching, the Sheriff's Office got a call from the man the deputy was looking for. He told deputies that Wright had intentionally hit and injured him with a car.
The man explained that he was walking through Wright's property when he Wright started yelling at him to get off his property. The man told deputies that he yelled back at Wright as he continued to walk.
The man told deputies that Wright came out of the house and got in his car, driving towards the man as he walked west down Baron Lane.
An argument followed, almost leading to fight.
Several witnesses said that the man turned away from Wright, and began to walk in the opposite direction.
Wright then drove towards the man and yelled at the man to get out of the road.
Witnesses told deputies that the man told Wright to go around. When Wright threatened to hit him with the car, the man said, "Well hit me then!"
Witnesses and the man both told LSCO that Wright then backed his car up, then sped forward, hitting the man.
Wright is being held in jail on a $5,000 bond. After his first appearance in court, he has plead not guilty to the aggravated battery charge.
