The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, February 5, 2019
—————
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Much of the eastern half of the nation can expect warmth to
continue today. The warmest conditions will be in the
Southeast, where record highs may fall. The thaw may lead to
minor ice jams in parts of the Midwest and Northeast. Patchy
fog may pose a travel problem throughout the East. Rain will
gather over the South Central states with a zone of freezing
rain likely over the middle Mississippi Valley and central
Plains. More snow will break out over the northern Plains. A
cold storm is forecast to push slowly inland over the West.
Snow will fall on the passes of Southern California and
reach some of the foothills and lower elevations of the West
in general. Cold rain showers will occur elsewhere. A drying
trend is in store for the coastal Northwest following the
snow from Monday.
