COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy has been accused of killing a man who gave him and his friends a ride, then dumping his body and driving off in his SUV.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that the teenager shot and killed Enrique Ramirez Trejo of Covington on Saturday night. The Associated Press generally doesn't name juveniles accused of crimes.
Deputies say Trejo was on his way home when he stopped at a convenience store and offered three males a ride.
Authorities discovered Trejo's body on the side of a road in Covington Sunday morning. Later that evening, authorities say Covington police found the 16-year-old with two other people inside Trejo's SUV.
Covington is about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.
