ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man is facing several charges after police say he crashed his sport-utility vehicle into two pedestrians, killing them both.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said in news release that 38-year-old Aleem Reezan Temon Hamid fled the scene after Saturday's crash and then refused to take a breath alcohol test when he was finally caught.

Investigators say 74-year-old Nicholas Michael Desanta and 80-year-old Beverly J. Gran, 80, were crossing a road in a beachfront community and were standing in the median when Hamid's vehicle ran into them. Desanta and Gran were from Sebring, Florida.

Hamid faces charges including DUI manslaughter and leaving the accident scene. Records show he is jailed on a $200,150 bond. It is not clear if he has a lawyer to represent him.
