SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Police arrested a 16-year-old relative after a Savannah Police Department officer and his wife were killed on Wilmington Island Monday morning.
The incident happened on Palmetto Bay Cove. The Chatham County Police Department was called to the home around 6:30 a.m. When they got there, they found the man dead inside the home. They found the woman next door. Officials say they both appeared to have been stabbed.
Police arrested the wife's 16-year-old brother at the scene. He is an unidentifed student in the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Systems. Police charged him with two counts of felony murder.
Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley did not identify the officer or suspect during a press conference.

Georgia police officer, wife found slain at coastal home
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer and his wife were found slain after police were called to a home on the Georgia coast.
Chatham County police said in a news release the body of a Savannah police officer was found at about 6:30 a.m. Monday inside a home on Wilmington Island, a few miles (kilometers) east of the city. The officer's wife was discovered dead next door.
Police say both appear to have been stabbed.
The news release says police are questioning a teenager who lived with the couple and was located at the scene.
No other details were immediately released. Police said the victims' names were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
