PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Pensacola man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2015 fatal shooting.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://goo.gl/OD6gXK) reports that a judge sentenced 24-year-old Nicholas Nehring this week after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.
Police say Nehring initially told investigators that he shot Joseph Ross during a drug deal, thinking Ross tried to pull a gun on him. Nehring later admitted that he had planned to kill Ross because of a contentious history between the men.
Nehring's attorney argued that Nehring had been lying to protect the real killer.
