CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) - An energy company's plans to construct a pipeline to carry natural gas through northwest Georgia has been met with resistance from some land owners.
The Daily Tribune News reports (http://bit.ly/2mtwp4m ) that Tim Denson's property is in the pipeline's path.
Caterpillars crawl where Denson's horses once grazed.
Big yellow Caterpillars, their steel blades slicing through the red clay, shoving anything green into a heap of dead vegetation.
Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. is constructing the 112-mile pipeline transporting natural gas to the southeastern United States.
Company spokesman Chris Stockton said it negotiates with property owners, and pays them in some cases. Other times it goes to court, as in Denson's case.
An affiliated company, Williams Partners LP, says it's committed to working with landowners and government agencies to minimize impacts.
