Florida Police Officer Kills Man During Confrontation

MIAMI, FL.  (AP) - Authorities say a Florida police officer has fatally shot a man during a confrontation.

The Miami Herald reports that the shooting occurred Thursday afternoon.

Miami-Dade police report that the officer was not injured, but 22-year-old Kentrill William Carraway died after being rushed to the hospital.

Details of what led to the shooting weren't immediately released. The Herald reports that Carraway had pleaded guilty to armed robbery in 2014 and was fined for misdemeanor theft in 2012.

Police didn't immediately report the name or race of the officer involved in the shooting. Carraway was black.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates all police shootings.
