Body of missing 17-year-old found in Skidaway River

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - The body of a missing 17-year-old has been found in the Skidaway River.

The Savannah-Chatham Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team, along with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, had been searching for Andrew Barnes, who was inside a vehicle that ended up submerged early Sunday.

During a search by Chatham County Marine Patrol and the DNR, Barnes was found near the Skidaway Narrows Boat Ramp at about 8:15 a.m. Monday.

The Savannah Morning News reports (http://bit.ly/2fYTMAY ) the vehicle's driver, 20-year-old Delaion Woodbury, drove down the ramp and into the water Sunday. He and his passengers, 21-year-old Matthew Barnes and 19-year-old Michael Barnes, all swam to safety, but Andrew Barnes didn't.

Barnes' body was found about 60 yards from the boat ramp using a body drag and side scan sonar.
