30,000 pounds of food to be distributed in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Farm Share, joined by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, will be giving away 30,000 pounds of food to local households in need and federal employees who were impacted by the partial government shutdown.

The massive food distribution is set to happen Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Leon County Sheriff's Office (2825 Municipal Way) from 8 a.m. until food runs out.

Leon County deputies will be on hand to assist participants by greeting, bagging, and handing out approximately 30,000 pounds of food supplements, proteins, produce, assorted shelf-stable food, drinks, and other assorted healthy food items to an anticipated 500 food insecure households.

The food will be distributed via a drive-thru (maximum three (3) households per vehicle) and walk-up. Official federal IDs are required for federal employees in attendance. 

Out-of-state residents are welcome.
