TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Students, faculty, and the community will have the opportunity to learn more about the presidential candidates selected by Florida State University's Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

The committee will be holding open forums with each candidate beginning Monday, September 15. The schedule can be found here.

The final four candidates are:

  • Richard Marchase – Vice President for Research and Economic Development at University of Alabama at Birmingham
  • Michael V. Martin – Chancellor of the Colorado State University System
  • John E. Thrasher – State Senator of Florida
  • Michele G. Wheatly – Former Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at West Virginia University

Students have taken their voices to social media, and the faculty senate recently passed a resolution regarding the presidential search. However, they have not had the opportunity until now to interview the candidates themselves.

Faculty, staff, students, and the community will each have their own separate forum to learn more about the candidates.

Those who attend the forums will be asked to provide feedback to the committee by way of candidate evaluation forms.

The committee will meet September 22 to narrow down the candidates to no more than three and will interview those finalists again on September 23 before making a final decision.
