TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Northwest Florida Division of the Better Business Bureau is warning residents in the Big Bend area to watch out for a scam email telling people that a complaint has been filed against their business.

A spokesperson with the Northwest Florida Division of the Better Business Bureau sent an email about a scam email circulating in the area.

They said that, "There is an e-mail circulating our area claiming they are from BBB and a complaint has been filed against your business. The e-mail includes an attachment to open to read the complaint."

The spokesperson said that the emails are coming from the address 'compl.depts@outlook.com'

They said that if you received the email, opening the actual email will not harm your computer, but they have stressed that you should not open the attachment or link in the email. Instead, they have advised that you delete the email altogether.

The Northwest Florida Division of the Better Business Bureau has reminded that any emails coming from them will come from an address ending with, "@nwfl.bbb.org."
