JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Deputies said that they collected 171 pounds of prescription medications during their Prescription Take Back Initiative on Saturday.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office, members of the Jackson County Drug Task Force and the Marianna Woman's Club joined together for the county's 2nd annual DEA Prescription Take Back Initiative on Saturday at four different locations in the county.

At the event, people were able to drop off unused medications without any questions asked to the drop off points at Malone City Hall, Madison Street Park, Graceville Civic Center, and the Sneads Assembly of God.

Deputies said that the event was a success. They collected 171 pounds of medications turned in from all over the county.

The DEA arrived on Monday to pick up the medications and they said they will destroy them.
