TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- It may be winter but at FAMU, artists are in bloom!

The Artists in Bloom festival is officially underway, from now until April.

It's a celebration of art, film, music, theatre, literature and health awareness.

This marks the fifth Artist in Bloom Festival at FAMU, and organizers have plenty of events planned to celebrate.

On Friday, January 29, there's An Essential Conversation with Pearl Cleage. She's an award-winning playwright and author whose work has won commercial acceptance and critical praise in several genres.

Those who take part in this free event have the chance to learn about the inspiration behind some of Cleage's most well-known works. She's also agreed to a Q-and-A session with the audience.

The special sit down is Friday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Winter Wood Theatre on FAMU's campus. It's free to take part and all are invited.

Other events include:

- February 23, 7:30 p.m.: Emancipation Blues (Lee Hall)

- March 26, 8 a.m. until noon: Wellness Day 5K Run & Walk/Outdoor Zumba (Quadrangle)
