TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Women’s Basketball team earned its 14th NCAA Tournament selection in the last 15 seasons, being chosen as a No. 5 seed in the Greensboro Region in ESPN’s Selection Monday Special.
The Seminoles (23-8) will face 12th-seeded Bucknell (28-5) on Friday, March 22, at 4 p.m. on ESPN2. The game will be held at Halton Arena in Charlotte, which is the home venue of the UNC Charlotte 49ers. The Bison won its Patriot League title game against American, 66-54, to secure an automatic bid.
The winner of the Florida State-Bucknell matchup will face the winner of fourth-seeded host South Carolina (21-9) and No. 13 seed Belmont (26-6) on Sunday at a time to be determined. All second-round game times for Sunday will be determined once all Friday games are completed.
Florida State fans interested in attending the first and second rounds in Charlotte can purchase tickets beginning Tuesday, March 19, at 10 a.m. from the UNC Charlotte Ticket Office. Tickets are general admission and are $16 for adults each day, while youth, senior and student tickets are $8 each day. Friday includes two games, while Sunday features just one second-round matchup.

With Florida State’s tournament bid, it joins only Louisville and Notre Dame as the three current ACC schools who have made 14 of the last 15 NCAA Tournaments since 2005. FSU enters the NCAA post-season carrying the 21st-rated RPI despite having a roster that included no seniors and no returning starters from 2017-18.
The Seminoles’ 15-game win streak in the NCAA First Round will be put to the test against a Bison squad that has earned the highest seed in program history and the highest seed in Patriot League history. Florida State and Bucknell have never played each other.
The last time FSU had to travel for its NCAA First and Second Rounds in 2016, it was also a No. 5 seed headed to College Station, Texas. It defeated No. 12 Middle Tennessee State, 72-55, and followed with a 74-56 victory on No. 4 seed Texas A&M’s home court to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Also in Florida State’s region, which is located in Greensboro, is No. 1 seed Baylor, No. 2 Iowa, No. 3 NC State, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Missouri, No. 8 South Dakota, No. 9 Clemson, No. 10 Drake, No. 11 Princeton, No. 14 Maine, No. 15 Mercer and No. 16 Abilene Christian.
The Atlantic Coast Conference led all conferences with eight bids, which also includes Clemson (9 seed), Louisville (1), Miami (4), North Carolina (9), NC State (3), Notre Dame (1) and Syracuse (3).
