TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.

Tuesday's We're Open, Tallahassee segments are all focused on local restaurants since it's "Takeout Tuesday," a day to support your local spots by getting food to-go.

Cabos Island Grill is one of our "Takeout Tuesday" restaurants.

Mike Ferrara opened the restaurant 33 years ago, and although he made it through the 2008 recession and hurricanes, he feels we're in uncharted waters now.

Ferrara says his staff have all made custom masks to wear, and he's making sure the staff gets paid, even if he and his partner don't.

He says he's blessed by the love and support from the Tallahassee community and his loyal customers, one of whom sent a $500 check from Chicago.

"Everyone who's supported us," said Ferrara, "and it's been strong, and I think people understand that we are under a lot of pressure. And I think there's been a lot of support for the local restaurants, all of us, in town. So, even though people are worried about their safety, they are coming out, and we are getting a lot of support."

Today's "Takeout Tuesday" special at Cabos is a fried flounder po-boy, at 1221 Apalachee Parkway, next to Ross.

We've made it easy for business owners to submit your own business in the Big Bend area or south Georgia.

It's our way of letting people know you are open for business, and how they can support you.
