TALLAHASSEE (WTXL)-- A winter storm is making its way into the South bringing, snow, rain and ice. The greatest snowfall totals expected could range from Southern Missouri to parts of the Mid-Atlantic. Some areas near Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky are expecting 5+” of snow.
Along with the snow there is an ice threat for the region. This is going to make travel extremely difficult; some of the schools in Atlanta have already closed in order to prepare for this storm. A state of emergency was declared for 15 Northern Georgia counties.
Looking deeper South into Southern Georgia and Florida the rain is going to be heavy but nothing severe is expected.
