MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Julia is raising eyebrows as the first Atlantic tropical cyclone to form over land. It is not a threat to the local area as it pushes to the northeast virtually over the southeast Georgia coastline. As it moves, coastal flood threats as well as inland flood threats will be the main hazards from Julia, stretching from Brunswick, GA, toward Charleston, SC.
Tropical Storm Ian continues to spin in the open Atlantic and it poses no threat to any landmass. It may strengthen somewhat over the next few days as it accelerates north.
In addition to Ian and Julia, there are two tropical waves that have significant chances of developing. One is located over the Cape Verde Islands and it has a 70% chance to develop into a depression or storm in the next two days. One behind it (still over Africa) has a 40% chance to develop in the next five days.
