MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The Tropics are starting to heat up, with two separate areas that have potential for tropical development within the next five days.

Starting off in the far eastern Atlantic, a rare June Cape Verde tropical wave is churning, moving west of Africa at 15-20 mph. It has a 20% chance of tropical development within the next five days as it continues to move west.

Closer to the U.S., an area in the Western Caribbean may see tropical development in the next five days as low pressure is forecast to develop there. This also has a 20% chance of tropical organization within the next five days. Model guidance hints that this storm will stay away from Florida, likely drifting into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

More updates on these systems will be available later this afternoon.
