TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A veil of clouds in the Mississippi Valley will be carried eastward on stronger upper-level winds, and will result in increasing cloudiness locally today through Thursday. Scattered showers starting early in western areas will become widespread by the afternoon. Shower activity will be numerous, perhaps widespread, in southern Georgia especially. Mostly light rain is expected, along with some areas of moderately heavy rain.

With a lack of sunshine and ongoing northeast winds, temperatures will rise to the 50s for highs and 40s for lows. A cool, damp trend will stretch into Thursday before clouds start breaking on Friday. Temperatures are staying mild today through the end of the week and there will only be small variations from morning to afternoon. Temperatures will start in the 40s, warming to the mid and upper 50s under overcast skies.
