MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The broad cloud cover associated with a low-pressure disturbance north of Hispaniola and Puerto Rico maintains a moderate chance to encounter further development. An upper-level low to the west of this area has heavily influenced its development, keeping its structure somewhat ragged. While general low-pressure circulation exists, there is also a considerable amount of dry and some cooler air entrained in the circulation. These features are being considered in future intensification efforts. The system has a chance to become a tropical or subtropical depression between now and the weekend. After then, a stronger frontal system will approach, effectively keeping the disturbance out to sea.
There are no other areas of developing concern in the tropical Atlantic basin as of Wednesday afternoon.
