MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The wave of moisture just east of the Yucatan Peninsula maintains limited chances for short-term development, as it is in a region of active upper winds and near land, factors that will prevent any major organization efforts. The disturbance is projected to move northwest, perhaps entering the southwestern Gulf of Mexico over the weekend where some slight strengthening is possible. Regardless of these possibilities, the system will not have a direct impact on local weather features this weekend or early next week.
Development elsewhere in the tropical Atlantic basin is unlikely to occur through early next week.
