MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The once-major hurricane Joaquin has degraded into a tropical storm in the northern Atlantic waters.  Its transition into a post-tropical cyclone will continue tonight through tomorrow as it is whisked to the east, heading toward the European continent as a broad area of low pressure.

Scattered pockets of clouds and disturbed weather farther south in the waters near and east of the Lesser Antilles are not showing signs of immediate development as tropical systems.  A patch of moisture in the far southern Caribbean is also not being highlighted for near-term development as of Wednesday afternoon
