MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- No areas of disturbed weather in the tropical Atlantic basin are being highlighted for an enhanced potential for further development over the next few days.  A wave south of Cuba in the north Caribbean will suffer from a case of moderate wind shear in the western Caribbean, which should hinder immediate efforts for organization.

Historically, only one hurricane has hit the United States since official record-keeping began in 1851.  That one hurricane was Kate in 1985, which heavily impacted the eastern Panhandle and the Big Bend region late that month.
