MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Disturbances in the tropical Atlantic basin are becoming less potent, and the threat of developing tropical depressions or storms has greatly decreased compared to the recent past.
Tropical Storm Fred is moving northwest, making more distance between itself and the Cape Verde Islands. A hostile set-up of swift upper winds and a generally dry atmosphere will hasten the storm's weakening trend and eventual demise.
Other patches of moisture have limited opportunity for development, and no new tropical features are expected to form in the next few days ahead.
