On this day in 1987, a strong winter storm pounded Rye, CO. The Storm left a total of 61 inches of snow. At the the same time wind gusts in Utah reached 100 mph. The same storm also produced heavy snow from the Texas panhandle to Indiana. After the storm passed through the Southern Plains, Tulia, TX recorded 16 inches of snow and up to 14 inches was reported in western Oklahoma.
