On this day in 1922, the city of Washington D.C. became immobilized due to the historic "Knickerbocker" Storm that plunged through the region. This storm produced 28 inches of snow in just 32 hours. The snow came down so fast and heavy, causing the roof of the Knickerbocker movie theater to collapse. A total of 96 people were said to have died due to this incident.
