(WTXL) -- Despite the extreme cold temperatures that the eastern US witnessed during the winter, this past winter (Dec-Feb) was the warmest on record worldwide. In addition to that, last month was the second warmest February occurring just after having the warmest year on record.
Taking into account the climate across the globe, February was 1.48 degrees above normal. While the eastern half of the US has seen record breaking cold, the western half of the US has seen record breaking heat. Even though the US saw above and below average temperatures the rest of the world saw above average temperatures during the winter season.
