MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Our newest named tropical storm has formed. Gonzalo is the seventh named storm this Atlantic hurricane season and it has formed from the disturbance just to the east of the Lesser Antilles. It has prompted hurricane watched and tropical storm warnings across the eastern Caribbean including Puerto Rico & the U.S. Virgin Islands. The storm is forecast to turn to the north after moving close to Hispaniola as a category 2 hurricane. As of now, there are no direct U.S. mainland threats with this system.
