MIDWAY, FL (WTXL)-- There are two areas of tropical interest being monitored in the Atlantic. Showers and storms in South Florida are caused by a disturbance located over Cape Canaveral. We're also still following a trough of low pressure north of the Lesser Antilles.
The area of low pressure will bring rainfall to the Florida peninsula as it lifts north. The system only has a 10% chance of developing over the next 5 days.
The tropical wave in the Atlantic (Invest 99L) is currently a couple hundred miles north of the Leeward Islands. Continuing on a northwest track, the system will encounter an unfavorable environment of dry air. However, it has a 50% development chance within 5 days.
