A quick check on the tropics: Tropical storm Jerry is beginning to weaken as it remains stationary in the Atlantic Ocean. Winds associated with Jerry are around 45 mph. As dry air continues to filter into the system Jerry will continue to fizzle out and does not look like it will be a threat to land at this time. Another area of low pressure that we will be monitoring is Invest 97 over the Western Caribbean Sea. There is a 30% chance for development of this system during the next 48 hours and a 50% chance of it becoming a tropical cyclone in the next five days as it moves over the Southern Gulf of Mexico later this week. The system may bring heavy rains to the Cayman Islands in the next day or so.
