MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The tropical wave (otherwise known as Invest 97L) approaching the Lesser Antilles is looking healthy over recent satellite scans and we'll likely see the birth of a new tropical depression or tropical storm later Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rains and gusty winds are expected to impact the Lesser Antilles in the next day or so. Models still disagree after Sunday as to where the system will push. Some show a sharp turn to the north in four days, impacting Hispaniola. Some show the system staying west, possibly turning toward the Gulf of Mexico. Interests along the Gulf coast all the way to New England need to keep a close eye on the progression of this system.
