MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Ian is forecast to remain in the open Atlantic Ocean, a safe distance east of Bermuda, with no major chances to intensify beyond the next few days as it enters the colder North Atlantic waters.
A tropical wave just west of the African west coast is following a similar pattern to previous waves in the Cape Verde region this season, entering a zone of somewhat favorable atmospheric conditions that can lead to future organization.
A tropical low is straddling the east coast of Florida, producing some strong gusts along the Atlantic shore and periods of heavy rain in some counties in the eastern Florida peninsula. Its organization puts it on the threshold of a formal tropical depression or storm, but the central low pressure is already interacting with land. Future strengthening will be hindered because of this, but the vast moisture the system carries can translate into soaking rain for many areas along the Atlantic coast, and perhaps into interior areas of the Suwannee Valley and south-central Georgia through Friday.
