TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Subtropical storm Debby is churning in the open Atlantic. However, we won't be seeing any local impacts from this system as it continues pushing away from the United States.

The center of Debby is currently located to the north and west of the Azores. It has maximum sustained winds at 40 MPH, with gusts up to 50. The storm is moving toward the north at 15 MPH, but some decrease in speed is expected before the cyclone starts turning northeast on Wednesday.

Subtropical storm Debby is not expected to strengthen since it will encounter cool waters. Debby is forecast to dissipate within the next 48 hours.

Winds at 40 MPH extend outward up to 140 miles to the east of the center. The estimated central pressure is 1008 mb.
