MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A couple of poorly organized tropical systems are lurking in the western Caribbean and just off the southeast coast of Florida.
The southern Florida system is creating breezy conditions across the peninsula and enhancing strong onshore winds on the east coast. The disturbance is forecast to move west through the next couple of days. Limited organization is projected.
The western Caribbean system (identified as "Invest 90L") is over a warm patch of waters and is drifting north to northwest in the near-term future. While details with the forecast of this system are still few, guidance has continued to support further organization of this disturbance through the end of the week. There may be some interaction between this and the south Florida low, but it is unclear what effect, if any, it would have on the system. Upper-level winds in the region are modestly low, but water temperatures are well above 80°, and strengthening of the system is possible late this week through the weekend as it is expected to continue a generally northerly course of movement.
Areas across the central and eastern Gulf coast area, including the Florida Big Bend and Panhandle, should monitor closely for further forecasts and information in the days ahead.
