MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A tropical wave in the western Caribbean Sea is still broad and disorganized, but capable of causing heavy rain near the eastern shores of Central America. A gradual trend of intensification and organization is possible through the next several days, with modest chances for a developed tropical low to form within the cloud mass. A northerly movement is projected through the weekend, generally toward the Yucatan Channel or Cuba. From there, a cold front entering the eastern Gulf is expected to shove the system toward the northeast and into the western Atlantic.
Some impacts from clouds and moisture, along with rain, are possible over the weekend for the southern half of the Florida peninsula. It's unclear what form the system may take by that time. Further tropical cyclone development remains possible.
No other areas of disturbed weather are forecast to develop elsewhere in the tropical Atlantic basin.
