MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The system named Otto in the southwestern Caribbean has intensified into the seventh hurricane of the Atlantic basin 2016 season. Further strengthening into a category 2 hurricane is possible as it slowly moves to the west, eventually making a likely landfall in some parts of Central America. This projection maintain the belief that the hurricane will not pose any risks to the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal areas.
There are no other disturbances warranting major or minor concern in the rest of the Atlantic basin waters.
