MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The system formerly known as Hurricane Hermine is a leftover, remnant, but strong, low-pressure disturbance, lingering off the coast of New Jersey.  The low will eventually move to the northeast, farther off the coast, over the next couple of days.

One tropical wave in the northern Caribbean, south of Hispaniola, is forecast to move into a zone of increased upper-level wind flow, which would hinder any development efforts.  It's unlikely we'll see any significant intensification with this system.

Another disturbance, emerging from the west African coast, has higher long-range chances to form into the Atlantic basin's next tropical depression.  Forecasts carry this system west-northwestward over open waters for several days, with some strengthening possible in the days ahead.  However, it will maintain considerable distance from any major land mass for a while.
